If anyone still cares: thoughts about Emmy nominations!

Previously on keever: TV was a wasteland decimated by the strike. It didn't really matter because I was busy moving anyway. TV returned to both the airwaves and, after a visit from the DirecTV man, my living room. And it was good.
Brief (okay, brief-ish) thoughts on everything that's aired in its respective home country so far.
( Torchwood )
( Doctor Who )
( The Office )
( Battlestar Galactica )
( Lost )
I was going to end on my personal potential 2008-2009 TV schedule, but damn! That's enough for one day, I think. Several, in fact.

The BBC finally announced a start date for Doctor Who series 4, sort of: the week beginning April 5th. We can probably assume that means April 5th, since Saturday has never been the "beginning" of any week, and it's unlikely they're going to change such a well-established time slot.
I would be exploding with happiness about it and Battlestar Galactica returning within a day of each other if I wasn't moving and unsure if my cable/Internet situation will be straightened out in time. Argh! But, you know, everyone else -- enjoy! I'll certainly catch up with you in time. No, that was not a pun.

With Razor airing tomorrow, I thought it might be useful to have all of the appetite-whetting (yes, I'm one of the three people who hasn't obtained it already) flashbacks together in one post. It's useful for me, at least: I know I missed a couple, and since I'm behind a version of Flash or two and am thus denied them via the Sci Fi Channel's website and certainly wasn't going to suffer through Flash Gordon to see them, YouTube once again proves itself a great resource. They're all embedded behind the cuts below.
Oh, and on the off chance you were avoiding them because you thought the (striking) writers were getting screwed on these "promotions" as they did with the pre-season three Resistance webisodes, Ron Moore explains the difference. So, you know, only slightly screwed.

Looking forward to tomorrow! If the weirdly spot-on casting and cool action in these hadn't been enough to get me psyched, the glowing reviews would certainly have done it. I just hope it lives up to the hype.

What the hell is wrong with television executives? No, really. Doubleyou-tee-eff?
First SciFi takes the Battlestar Galactica audience for granted by pushing season four's premiere back to April, a full year after the season three finale.
Now NBC apparently wants to dilute a good thing by spinning off The Office, which will involve insinuating new characters into the show for the sole purpose of launching a new one.
And most egregiously, motherfucking "the Pussycat Dolls empower women!" McG plans to put his grubby little hands on my dearly beloved Spaced. Edgar Wright says he hasn't been contacted about this, and that his permission is not required for a remake, nor would he see a dime from it. That the American Office has become my favorite current show is cold comfort. Spaced is cemented in a certain place and time, centered around a specific uniquely talented creative team. They knew well enough to leave it alone after the second series, and if they're not ever going to touch it again, no one else should, least of all Flashy McHollywoodpants. Let's just hope this doesn't actually happen/get picked up, like the American version of The Vicar of Dibley (shudder) that got bandied about last year.
HAAAAAATE!
